Edwin Cameron was appointed a Justice of the Constitutional Court, South Africa's highest court, in December 2008. He chaired the Wits University Council for over ten years from 1998-2008 and has been involved in AIDS policy formulation since the 1980s. He is the author of the prize-winning memoir Witness to AIDS, and blames the formidable headwinds of 2009 for the dismal time he recorded in completing his fourth Cape Cycle Tour (109km).
